Deep in the Umpqua, Part II

Dawn came far earlier than I expected, or could deal with. My tent began to glow green with the first rays of light and my response was to roll onto my side and throw my arm over my face. Deep in the Umpqua, Part I

I came around a bend and eyed the chunk of granite at the bottom of the short hill. It was a steep drop followed by a quick transition with a choke point at the rock. And that rock was a doozy. It was the size of a bath tub. I had barely taken the time to think, "Okay, gotta be careful as I pass that," when I noticed non-foresty colors just ahead of the rock, off the trail on the left.
