June 8 - Carcross Cut-off Time Trial

Under clear blue skies, light winds and mild temperatures, thirteen cyclist turned up for the third event of
VeloNorth's 2016 road cycling series.

The event was an individual time trial starting at the junction of the Alaska Highway and South Klondike heading south on the Alaska Highway 8.5 km, with the older riders then turning and returning back to the start.

Seen as a tune-up for U-Kon Echelon's juniors who will be heading to British Columbia's Junior Road
Championships in Penticton, on the weekend, they showed that all their hard training is paying off as they dominated the results.

Lucas Taggert-Cox put in an outstanding time of 14 minutes and 39 seconds in finishing first in the 8.5 km.
He was followed by Amy Irving Stayley in 15 minutes 19 seconds.

Shea Hoffman continued to impress by dominating the 17 km course in a time of 27 minutes and 10 seconds. Micah Taggert-Cox dipped under the 30 minute barrier in finishing second in 29
minutes and 12 seconds.

Coach Trina Irving was first in the woman's category in 30 minutes 57 seconds followed by Simi Morrison in 33 minutes and 49 seconds.

Special thanks to all the volunteers that made the event possible: Sherillynne, Bill, Malcolm, and Derrick.

The next event on VeloNorth's schedule is the long running Tour de Whitehorse July 8-10.
