Tour de Whitehorse

July 8th - Prologue (2 km up South Access) ... starts at 6:30 pm with registration starting at 5:30 pm. Location  for Registration is bottom of South Access at the entrance to the Go-Kart Track.

July 9th - ITT (20 km and 10 km) ... starts on North Klondike at Hot Springs Road at 10 pm. Registration at Gas Station startting at 9 am

July 10th - Road Race starting at Jales Corner - 30 km distance for U13 and Recreational riders ends at Kettley's Canyon, 51 km for U15  and 78 km for Expert ends at South Access. Start time 10 am with registration at 9 am at Jakes Corner

Atherton Extends her Downhill World Cup Lead in Hat Trick Win

Rachel Atherton continued her storm on the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup with a win at the fourth round in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

After three consecutive wins, the 27-year-old now sits in the lead on the overall standings, ahead of Emmeline Ragot (France).

Ragot was leading at the first time split, and was also fastest in qualifying. However, in the second half she overcooked a jump, landing heavily on her front wheel, and only just holding onto the bike. She managed to maintain fifth place, nearly ten seconds down on Atherton's time of 3 minutes 28 seconds.

Gruesome Splinter for Cuban Sprinter at Pan Am Games

Cuban spinter Lisandra Guerra crashed out during the women's track sprint at the Pan American Games on Saturday, taking with her more than bruises.

Skidding along the track in Milton, a piece of the wooden velodrome splintered off, lodging itself in her upper arm.

Froome faults some media reports after urine thrown at him: “It is no longer the riders who are bringing the sport into disrepute, it is those individuals”


Tour de France 2015 - stage 10Chris Froome has claimed that some media reporting is indirectly to blame for attacks on Team Sky, suggesting that incidents involving himself and Richie Porte are down to some unnamed individuals reporting on the race.

The Tour leader spoke at length on the topic after the end of stage 14 to Mende and drew a direct connection between reports written about the race and the actions of individual fans.

Lance Armstrong is in the news again during the Tour de France. He has tweeted about the speculation around current Tour leader Chris Froome, and has been riding along some of the 2015 Tour de France stage routes on a charity ride.

Let me say from the outset that I abhor doping in cycling. My writing on the issue should make that clear. But a friend recently asked me an unexpected question about Lance Armstrong that made me stop and realise there's an aspect about his story that I had never fully contemplated. His question:

"Is it possible that Lance Armstrong's role in popularising cycling has done more for community cardiovascular health than 20 years of cardiovascular medicine?"

Behind the scenes of Dimension Data’s rider tracking at the Tour de France


IMG_2225When time gaps at the Tour de France are currently shown during live broadcasts, those gaps are based on the position of TV motorbikes filming the various groups on the road. In some situations, this data can be unreliable (when a TV moto is out of position, for example) or simply unavailable (when there isn't a TV moto with a particular group, for example).

Tinkoff-Saxo statement on Ivan Basso

Ivan Basso was diagnosed with a tumor in his left testicle and has to undergo operation for its removal. According to Tinkoff-Saxo doctor, Piet De Moor, "on stage 5 of the Tour de France, Basso suffered from a minor crash in which his left testicle was slightly injured. As the pain persisted, a lump was discovered and following further examination on Monday morning at the hospital in Pau, the presence of a tumor was confirmed."

Jane Eccles


In 2005, a few days after giving birth, Jane and her family were told she had just hours to live. She had contracted Necrotising Fasciitis (NF) and it was very quickly ripping through her body.

Thankfully their prognosis was not correct, but for Jane this was only the first battle of many. Extensive surgery was required to get rid of the NF, one which involved the removal of her abdominal muscles. As she lay in intensive care, it was becoming clear that her physical ability would never be the same again.

Tara Llane

Tara Liane's incredible story is not one of how she became paralyzed crashing in a downhill mountain bike race back in 2007 but rather one of determination, drive and the positivity.

The four-time national bike champion may have lost the use of her legs but she is living proof that you can always come back fighting and if you have the will, energy and competitive spirit can help you to achieve what others would deem impossible.
