Tour de Whitehorse

July 8th - Prologue (2 km up South Access) ... starts at 6:30 pm with registration starting at 5:30 pm. Location  for Registration is bottom of South Access at the entrance to the Go-Kart Track.

July 9th - ITT (20 km and 10 km) ... starts on North Klondike at Hot Springs Road at 10 pm. Registration at Gas Station startting at 9 am

July 10th - Road Race starting at Jales Corner - 30 km distance for U13 and Recreational riders ends at Kettley's Canyon, 51 km for U15  and 78 km for Expert ends at South Access. Start time 10 am with registration at 9 am at Jakes Corner

A whistleblower lawsuit filed by Floyd Landis in 2010, and joined by the US Justice Department in 2013, to be heard by a jury later this year in the United States could see Lance Armstrong lose US$100 million with his former teammate receiving one third of the damages for instigating the case. In an interview with AFP journalists at his house in Aspen, Armstrong explained he will face financial turmoil should he lose the case.

Alex Dowsett sets new Hour Record of 52.937km

Alex Dowsett has set a new UCI Hour Record at the Manchester Velodrome this Saturday with a distance of 52,937 kilometres, beating Rohan Dennis' previous record of 52.491. Dowsett looked like he still had more to give as he lifted his bike over his head after completing his hour.

In the News: Italian federation chief criticizes UCI over Astana case

Italian cycling federation president Renato di Rocco has criticized the UCI's handling of the Astana case, the Reuters wire service reported Tuesday.

Di Rocco, a member of the UCI's management committee, wrote a letter March 27 to UCI president Brian Cookson outlining his concerns over how the cycling governing body is trying to revoke the team's WorldTour racing license. Reuters published excerpts of the letter:

Eisel calls for rider unity in cases of extreme weather

The experienced Team Sky rider was speaking at the start of the Driedaagse De Panne-Koksijde, race that saw the first twelve kilometres neutralized, as high winds again buffeted the peloton. The riders faced a similar scenario in Sunday's Gent-Wevelgem and despite a brief respite, as Eisel led a collective neutralization, the race went ahead, but was littered with crashes, abandonment, broken bones and further debate about rider safety and racing extreme weather conditions.

Lampre: Not re-signing Horner ‘came down to his age’

Age was the deciding factor in Chris Horner's future with Lampre-Merida. Despite a bumpy 2014 campaign with the Italian team that included a heavy crash and his untimely departure from the Vuelta a España, it was Horner's birth certificate that ultimately proved his undoing with the WorldTour team.

Speaking to VeloNews, Lampre general manager Brent Copeland confirmed there was no consensus within the team to keep the 43-year-old on board for another season.

Jane Eccles


In 2005, a few days after giving birth, Jane and her family were told she had just hours to live. She had contracted Necrotising Fasciitis (NF) and it was very quickly ripping through her body.

Thankfully their prognosis was not correct, but for Jane this was only the first battle of many. Extensive surgery was required to get rid of the NF, one which involved the removal of her abdominal muscles. As she lay in intensive care, it was becoming clear that her physical ability would never be the same again.

Tara Liane's incredible story is not one of how she became paralyzed crashing in a downhill mountain bike race back in 2007 but rather one of determination, drive and the positivity.

The four-time national bike champion may have lost the use of her legs but she is living proof that you can always come back fighting and if you have the will, energy and competitive spirit can help you to achieve what others would deem impossible.
